Piano Music 3 is Alessandro Sgobbio’s follow-up to his acclaimed solo works Piano Music (2022) and Piano Music 2 (2023). The Italian composer-pianist presents eight new intimate compositions, each of them dedicated to a person, place or topic that have a special meaning and importance for him. The album is a visionary and meditative sound experience that invites the listeners to actively reconnect with emotions, memories and visions in both personal and collective perspectives. The conception of this album has been impacted by the horrific news announcing the daily massacres, mutilations and starvation of the Palestinian population of Gaza and the consequential destruction of houses, hospitals, schools and agricultural land in Gaza (such military acts have been defined – by the UCJ, the UN Special Rapporteur, MSF and several major human rights associations as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch – as compatible with the crimes of genocide) and the massive bombings in Beirut & Southern Lebanon cities.

Three songs in the album have been inspired by this annus horribilis: “Echoes” (dedicated to three young persons and all the hundred thousands killed and mutilated in just one year of massacres), “Red Gold” (a homage to renown delicious strawberries planted in Gaza, traditionally referred between locals as Red Gold; today all the plants have been completely annihilated by IDF’s restless bombardments) and “Dawns” (dedicated to the UNESCO city of Tyre, severely destroyed by IDF’s bombings in 2024).
