Ole Fredrik Norbye

Ole Fredrik Norbye (37) is a Norwegian pianist and composer. He is originally from Lavangen in Northern Norway, but has lived in Oslo for the past 12 years. Norbye studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and has several abroad studies where he studied under many of the world's most renowned pianists.

His musical expression is influenced by both the jazz tradition, but also draws a lot of inspiration from classical composers. In his music, he explores free improvisations based on the classical music form. On his debut album "Beyond the Forest," you will hear references from Arvo Pärt, Phillip Glass, Schumann, and Bach. But your thoughts are also directed towards jazz giants such as Paul Bley, Brad Mehldau, and Fred Hersch.

Norbye is also a highly sought-after pianist for other projects and has also received numerous commissions as a composer and arranger.
